Looky Looky! It's Craftville at Lockeland Design

Craftville is just a little bit in love with Lockeland Design Center elementary school in East Nashville. It's the elementary school a lot of Craftvillians wish they had attended as crafty kids. It sits in a beautiful 1939 building tucked away in Lockeland Springs with a focus on literature, art and an increasingly green theme.

We also agree that Camilla Spadafino is an art teacher we would have LOVED when we were kids! Not only is she super crafty and creative and is an awesome teacher- she believes in giving her K-4th students not only the opportunity to create, but the opportunity to showcase their work in the community. They are artists and deserve a platform to be so just as much as the grown ups.

For a few years running, she has oragnized a whimsical student art show at Riverside Village in Inglewood, showcasing student art work in each of the local businesses and through out the courtyard (a place we love and thank for being the site of many meetings). This great project caught our eye, along with all those creative kids! We really wanted to buy some of the fabulous pieces from these young artists. But, alas, the kids' pieces weren't for sale. Which gave us an idea. We wanted a craft market for kids. No, wait...we wanted a craft market BY kids. Made by kids, marketed by kids, staffed by kids. So we went to Camilla and she gave us some kids!

More specifically, she gave us the Lockeland 4th grade Art Club. We have met with them several times to develop product ideas and discuss the project. Today...oh, today...we got to the crafty stuff! Over the next 2 months they will be making their items. In January we will have some guests coming in to help them with developing a business brand. After that, we will be planning their February martket event! Each business will have items for sale, staff their own vendor booths and keep their own profits!  There are some mighty things that are going to happen with this group! A fantastic group of crafty entrepreneurs! Stay tuned for more about this partnership!

Craftville's Very First Pop-Up Store!!!!!

Calling all Craftvillians:

Craftville is looking for one-of-a-kind,

handmade, vintage, re-purposed,

creative, and inspired wares to fill our store.

Many thanks to Duncan and Heather, Not Your Mother's Events, for renting Craftville the space to host our very first pop-up store. We are so excited that we can barely breath! Craftville will be set up in the store front, on the left, of this historic East Nashville building. Taking place the 2nd Saturday of every month from September thru December. Craftville will be open during the Porter Crossing Arts Market. For more info about this event click on the link or check out our last blog post.

What will you find in Craftville's store?

~ An amazing array of items for sale from local artist, crafters and Nashville based Etsy sellers.

~ A kids DIY station. For the month of September we will be leading a tutorial on how to make these super adorable pencil toppers.

~ Adult DIY classes. We are still in the planning stages for the classes but they will be bigger and better than anything we have done to date. There will be a small fee for these classes. We will announce the class schedule sometime late next week.

Craftville and The Porter Crossing Arts Market

All of us here at Craftville couldn't

be more excited about

our very first pop-up shop at the

Porter Crossing Arts Market.

The Porter Crossing Entertainment District is the newest redevelopment project taking place in East Nashville. This corner is comprised of empty historic warehouses and the infamous Family Wash. Unfortunately the area is in need of much TLC. The Porter Crossing Family, The Beat Box Armada, The Eastwood Neighbors Community, Not Your Mother's Events and Craftville are coming together to hold The Porter Crossing Arts Market in an effort to  showcase the potential of this historic corner and to benefit crime prevention in Nashville.

What is the Porter Crossing Arts Market you ask? Well, it's a fusion event that will take place the 2nd Saturday of every month from September - December from noon till 9pm. The market will showcase a vast array of local Nashville artist and crafters, culinary delights from Nashville's food trucks and one-of-a-kind garments from local fashion designers.

Where? At the corner surrounding the Family Wash in East Nashville. It's the intersection of Greenwood Ave and Porter Rd. Now dubbed The Porter Crossing Entertainment District.

  How you can get involved:

#1: You can apply for a booth or private boutique on the Porter Crossing Entertainment Districts web page. They are offering several vendor options.

OR

#2: You can be a part of Craftville's pop-up store. For more information please email us at teamcraftville@gmail.com.

We will be posting more info tomorrow about our pop-up store and how you can be a part of it.

Craftville is honored to be a part of this event and is extremely grateful that Not Your Mothers Events has invited Craftville to hold their very first Pop-Up store. Thank you ladies :-)

Be sure to stay tuned for further updates!
