DIY Mosquito Combator (aka.. tiki torch) and Beautiful Yard Decor
Sunday, June 5, 2011 Summertime is upon us and nothing can ruin a lazy day lounging in the back yard more than those pesky mosquitoes. Every store in town sells the typical bamboo, over priced tiki torches that range anywhere from $5 - $40. Add to that the additional cost for wick refills ($2 for a pack of 2) or the citronella oil ($10 a gallon). Now considering that the vision that I had for my little backyard would roughly house 10-15 tiki torches, it would cost me $100 or more. I don't know about you but I sure don't want to dish out over $100 bucks just to fight off those darn mosquitoes.
After much trial and error and with the assistance of my loving, patient and uber handy boyfriend Scott we came up with the cheapest and simplest wine bottle citronella torch.
So here I am, sharing with you these awesome mosquito combatants! They also look pretty darn pretty at night :-) and daytime too!
